Hey! This week has been awesome! So we got a new investigator this week! It is interesting to see how the lord places investigators in my way that have some sort of issue that only I can solve! Just the past week, we have been teaching and investigator named Nathan. He is really into pokemon and runescape but he has a a lot of difficulty trusting other people as a result of ocd. This week we taught him about faith and I used a couple of synonyms to faith to help explain it in a more basic sense so that he could understand why it is necessary. I explained faith as a principle of trust and confidence. I related his trust in god to trust in his parents and explained how trust is built by experience. As we prove our trust it becomes stronger and stronger until someone breaks the pattern and loses our trust in them. It is the same way with god, but the miracle is that our trust in him will never fail. The difficulty many people have is taking that first step and planting the seed of faith. In order for you to build your faith or trust in god you must first follow what he has asked you to do. As you recognize the blessings that he has promised appearing in your daily life, your trust in him begins to grow to the point that you are willing to sacrifice anything if he asks it of you. Think of what he has already promised us. If we have faith in him we will be able to return to live in his presence forever! What wouldn't we give up for eternal life if we had the faith that god would be true to what he has promised! He said it clicked for him and now he is going to try an experiment where he will record how he feels without doing what we ask him to over a period of time and then doing what we ask him and see if the quality of his life truly does improve!
I am so grateful for the opportunity I have been given to serve the lord and I am blessed every day by my service!
With firm conviction,
Elder Adair
